Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated former President Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 election, which he called "history's greatest comeback" in a post shared on his X account early Wednesday (November 6) morning.

"Dear Donald and Melania Trump, Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America. This is a huge victory! In true friendship, yours, Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu," Netanyahu wrote along with a photo of himself and his wife, Sara, alongside the president-elect.

Trump told Netanyahu that he wanted him to end Israel's ongoing war in Gaza by the time he's inaugurated in January.

Polls showed that Israeli citizens overwhelmingly supported Trump in the 2024 election, according to the New York Post. Several other world leaders congratulated Trump on his victory including Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky, who said he was optimistic of an end to his country's ongoing war with Russia.

"We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership. We rely on continued strong bipartisan support for Ukraine in the United States," Zelensky wrote on his X account.

Trump won 277 electoral college votes, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Georgia, all of which he'd previously lost in the 2020 election against President Joe Biden.
